Improve Your Balance To A Better Skate

Do you feel that the people at the skating rink seem to have a much better balance than you? You are a fairly good skater, but you seem to be having some difficulties at staying balanced on the ice. You wonder if it is the boot they are wearing that might create such firm grips into the ice, and you are hoping to find any skates that will keep you better balanced. While if your blades are not well sharpened, you may drift on the ice, but balance in general depends a lot on your center of gravity.

The more you skate the better your balance. In time you will develop strong abs. These muscles are formed by just simply standing on the ice. You might not be aware of it but by just standing on the ice you are using your abs. But I would also recommend that you do yoga and pilates as off ice training for balance. Now you can use the new revolutionized Wii fit balance board; it is awesome. It features four main areas: yoga, strength training, aerobic exercise, balance training. It is not a replacement for off-ice training, however, it can be helpful.

To improve your balance, you need to work on your leg and your core muscles the most. Any kind of stretches and, also balance boards may be helpful; or you can put your back flat to the wall and go into a sitting position and then make sure that your legs are at a 90-degree angle. A weak lower body is equal to little or no balance on the ice. You will need to work on your arms and upper body as well. Find a point of focus. Concentrate on something in front of you; if you look at your feet, you tend to fall easier. When you glide, do not push off your toe pick, try and push off from the side of your skate. You won't make a scratching sound and it will prevent you from catching your toe pick on the ice and falling. When you glide, you want to bend a lot into your knees and push off the ice hard with your edges.

Try these quick simple tests to establish how balance you are:

Put each sock completely on your foot while standing solely on the other. If you have to move your grounded foot around or hop around to keep your balance, your balance is probably not up to the basics of a reasonable figure skater. Most figure skaters don't need to move from the spot while on one leg.

Also, another test is to close your eyes and stand absolutely steady for a half minute; have someone tell you whether you swayed at all or whether you were still able to keep perfect balance. This will be worth knowing if you are a figure skater.

Balance has to do with your center of gravity. The lower your center of gravity is, the easier it is to balance. The shorter you are, the closer you are to the ice. Do you ever marvel at how can fall while skating and get up as if nothing happened and resume skating? The reason most adults are insecure on the ice is usually due to their distance away from the ice, especially if they are very tall. In order to build up muscle strength, it takes exercises and a lot of muscle memory. Bending your knees is the most important thing you will learn as a skater. When you are skating forward, it can help to think of pushing your feet right down into the ice, through the balls of your feet. That way, your weight stays over the right part of the blade constantly and you should feel a little more stable. Remember to keep your knees bent.

Try some off-ice exercises. When you are at home just practice standing on one leg and bending it.

1. Stand on one foot with your other foot held up but not touching your leg, arms outstretched to the side as you would in skating, head held up. When you can do that for 30 seconds on each leg, repeat it with your eyes closed. If you have no problem with that, buy a wobble board, a half foam roller, a BOSU board, anything that makes balance harder as you practice your way to better balance.

2. Do basic core exercises - crunches for instance. A strong core makes balance easier.

If you choose to use weights, keep it light three or 5lb. weights will be fine if you are new at it. It's better to do more reps (15 - 20) with less weight than fewer reps with more weight. Talk to your coach or someone at the rink who specializes in off-ice training for additional assistance.

Before you go on the ice, it is important that you warm up first; just basic jogging on the spot, or jump rope may help. You must definitely stretch before and after skating to avoid injuries.

Practice the following the following on ice exercises:

Balance:

Bend both your knees slightly when you skate - even if it's just gliding. Bending your knees will keep your feet/skates right under you. Keep your head up - don't look at the ice. Don't lean too much forward, in other words don't stick out your rear. Keep your arms out in front of you at 10:10 or 2:50 as on a clock, they are your balancing poles. The more you skate, the more balanced you'll get.

Accelerating:

Think of your blades as knives. Now when you are moving, the movement is not like trying to cut the ice, it is more like you're trying to scrape with it. You need to bend your knees and push to the side and back, at a slight angle with your blades with your inside edges. That is what propelling you to move forward. Remember to keep your knees bent always. To go faster, bend deeper and create harder, longer pushes for good control. You might get out of control and go faster than you intended. The crucial part of stroking is the push, though. You should push on an inside edge. You don't want to be pushing on your toe-pick.

Slowing down:

If you're really going too fast and you don't know what to do, just glide on 2 feet until you start slowing down keep your knees bent for balance. If you can, skate next to the boards and run your hand along the rails to help slow you down. In any case, keep your knees slightly bent . . . the tendency is to stand up straight when you feel like you are about to fall. This will actually make you fall. Keep those arms in control as in the clock position. Try not to flap your arms when you're about to fall. Learning to stop would be most helpful at this point.

Use your knees and ankles to accelerate. While gliding, have both knees and ankles slightly bent. Turn one foot out to push with the side of your blade and extend that leg -- straighten the leg that you are pushing with. Then bring your feet back together in with the knees and ankles slightly bent again. Then repeat the whole process by pushing with the opposite leg. Remember to use your knees and ankles. You accelerate by bending and extending your joints.

For stopping you are going to again use those knees and ankles to bend, but this time you will apply pressure to your feet as well. Slowly press your heels out so that your toes start to point toward each other. Keep applying pressure to your feet by bending your knees and ankles. This will result in what is called a "snowplow stop" one of the basic stops.

When you accelerate, make sure you bend your knees, and push off your blade. You need to stay really low on your knees and push off on each stroke. Start off slow, as you try to go faster. Speed comes with balance. Balance comes from being comfortable in your skates. Just take it slowly, and you will start feeling more comfortable in no time.

SUDS Or Numbers in EFT Tapping

Most EFT tappers like using SUDS or what is sometimes referred to as "numbers". SUDS is a term for the Subjective Unit of Distress Scale, or how upset we could feel. We measure the level of fear, sadness, anger, guilt, stress, or any negative emotions in various situations.

You do not need to identify what the feeling exactly is; just get an idea of how intense it is. This is so that you can tell when it is gone and move onto the next step in your tapping.

If these are past or future situations, then imagine how intense you would feel if you were to think about these situations. If these are in the present moment, simply have a guess at the intensity of negative feeling you experience. Each situation you tap for has to be specific. The more specific you can be (e.g. "When visiting my friend Amy", or "the day my colleague shouted at me"), the better.

We measure the SUDS from 10 to 0, 10 being the worst, 0 being neutral or nothing. We aim to get all SUDS to 0 for complete success.

For non-practitioners, SUDS sometimes present a challenge. Typically, if you are working on yourself you may be unsure about the SUDS themselves. If this is the case, that is OK. Just rate the intensity of feeling Small, Medium, or Large. Or you can rate it Present or Absent. Simple.

If after tapping several rounds of EFT, there is no intensity, that is OK too. It probably means zero. It is not an exact science. There is no need to get yourself all worked up about "doing it right". EFT is very robust. And sometimes, instead of the numbers going down, they go up. This can be understandably scary at first. But it shows that there is a very relevant issue uncovered that lies underneath the issue being worked on. If that happens, one of the following steps can help:

Say the Setup statement with gusto, and follow it by shouting (in your mind if need be) "I DEEPLY ACCEPT MYSELF". Even if you do not really believe it, that is OK. You do not have to believe what you say for EFT to work. Then tap again and see how the numbers go this time. Drink water. EFT requires water. Get up and stretch. This helps move stagnant energy. Simply ask yourself: "If there was a specific person or specific event that this reminds me of, what would it be?" Then work on whatever comes up.

There is no need to get yourself all worked up about "doing it right". EFT is very robust. And you do not even need to use SUDS if it does not feel right to you.

Conservatories - Letting the Sun In

Although conservatories are currently popular design features, housing anything from kitchens to reading rooms: they were originally designed and constructed by Dutch farmers over 300 years ago to house plants. The farmers wanted to devise a method which would accommodate and protect their prized plants during the formidable European winters. The conservatory was the basis for the modern day greenhouse and served the farmers extremely well.

For many years the conservatory remained a functional and practical attachment. Later conservatories could be spotted all over Europe and North America as fashionable appendages to stylish homes. Today the conservatory's original purpose has given way to being used as an indoor/outdoor space. The successful conservatory is one which is created and designed to bring out the best elements of the home and the outdoors.

Build a conservatory!

Conservatories are stunning additions to any home, but they do take a fair amount of planning and decision making. One of the most important decisions is the design of the conservatory itself. There are several points to consider when making design decisions; the most important is that the conservatory must compliment your main building. Victorian style conservatories added on to über modern houses can look garish rather than stylish and visa versa. Many conservatory companies offer a range of styles from Victorian to Georgian and Lean-to but it is better not to get bogged down with styles. It is advisable that you decide, with the help of a designer, on the rooms' purpose, position and size before you select a style. Your conservatory must work effortlessly with your home rather than overshadow it. Once you have chosen a conservatory company, you will need to work closely with them to ensure that your conservatory will be a unique and fluid extension of your home.

Planning Permission

In the UK you don't usually require planning permission as most properties have a permitted development right to extend, though the size of this varies according to where you live. If you have already added on to your home, you may have used up some, or all, of your development right, in which case you may need planning permission for your conservatory. It is vital that you check with your local authority when considering any building at all, as each authority has different rules. It is always better to be safe than sorry when to comes to planning permission.

Location/Direction

In the northern hemisphere, south facing conservatories get the most year round sun. In summer, they can get extremely hot so you'll need to make sure you opt for opening windows and roof vents, which will give you excellent ventilation. Another two options are getting tinted (anti-sun) glass and/or air-conditioning. East facing conservatories get wonderful early morning sun which making them ideal settings for breakfast rooms. Easterly winds can be quite nippy so you may have to heat an east facing conservatory. West facing conservatories receive good sunlight on summer afternoons and evenings. Plants which thrive on indirect sunlight will love this location. A west facing conservatory is an amazing place to spend relaxing evenings, as they are pleasantly warm. North facing conservatories are without direct sunlight during the cold winter months and will need good heating and insulation to make up for this. In the summer these conservatories are warm and bright but they do not get direct sunlight.

The Main Structural Materials

The three main types of materials utilised in conservatory construction are PVC-U, Aluminium and Timber. PVC-U is available in many colours and is an extremely low maintenance material. This material is generally the most affordable option and works well with internal as well as external sealed glass units. Aluminium is another great low-maintenance option. It is lauded for its strength and slim sections which permit larger glazed areas. The most traditional material is timber which is a good insulator, but will need to be maintained. When making glazing decisions there are two main options, Polycarbonate and Glass. The former is a lightweight material which provides good insulation and is cheaper than glass but not as transparent or sound resistant. Glass is the preferred option as it is strong and transparent. There are several types of glass to choose from. Double glazed units will improve insulation but combining them with Low-E products and argon filling can improve this still further. Solar control products (tints or coatings) are most effective at controlling heat from the sun, internal heating and condensation. Another growing favourite amongst those who go for glass is the revolutionary self-cleaning glass which is making the lives of conservatory owners that much easier. This glass uses natural light and rainwater to keep glass cleaner and clearer and doesn't require any daredevil stunts with a ladder and soapy water to keep your glass ceiling transparent and looking great.

There are a host of other decisions you will have to make about your conservatory including: ventilation, heating and décor but the initial decisions discussed here will prove invaluable to anyone thinking about building a conservatory.

A conservatory is a wonderful and aesthetically enhancing extension to any home providing that you take care when planning. There is nothing nicer than soaking up warm rays of sunshine in the total comfort of an indoor setting with stunning outdoor views.

Defining the Digital Millennium Copyright Act

On October 28 1998 a bill by the name of the Digital Millennium Copy right Act was signed into law by President Clinton. The law implements two treaties of the world Intellectual Property Organization of 1996. The two main ones were the WIPO Copyright treaty and the WIPO Performance and Phonograms treaty. The DMCA has 5 titles.

1. WIPO Copyright and Performance and Phonograms Treaties Implementation Act of 1998 2. Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitations Act 3. Computer Maintenance Competition Act 4. Miscellaneous Provisions 5. Vessel Hull Design Protection Act

Title 1 makes a technical amendment and implements 2 new prohibitions in Title 17 of the US Code. It also adds a criminal penalty and civil liability for violation. The DMCA grants the same protection to outside works as WCT and WPPT member countries. The DMCA requires all lawsuits to be filed only when the copyright is duly registered, all foreign works being exempt from this requirement.

When a copyright has not fallen into public domain in its own country, it is to be protected by member countries. The Berne convention and the TRIPS agreement both had similar requirements. In 1995 it was implemented by the Uruguay Round Agreement Act. The DMCA extended the copyrights to the digital transference of works. The DMCA did not require technological companies to make any changes in their manufacture except for analog video cassette recorders in a period of 18 months had to have a system called Macro vision which prevents unauthorized copying of video cassettes.

There are exceptions provided in the law for law enforcement and intelligence activities of the government. There are six other notable exceptions:

o Non profit library o Reverse Engineering o Encryption Research o Protection of Minors o Personal Privacy o Security tasting

Title 2 laid down new laws for copyright infringements. This involves service providers. The 4 places they are connected are Transitory Communications, System caching, Storage of information at the direction of others and Information location tools. Most of the provisions take effect immediately when the treaty takes effect however some of them will be effective later.

All About Diamond Archery

Diamond Archery is a company that creates products for the popular sport of archery. Of course as the sport has gained more and more popularity over the years, the bows, arrows, and gears that are now provided have resulted in this company growing quite significantly.

Diamond Archery has created a bow by the name of the Marquis Bow, which weighs in at two kilos and is made of the best quality aluminium available. Of course this bow has been designed to give the user a more better delivery. Their bows are extremely strong and the faultless riser slots is a completely unique design. The thumb groove has been designed to allow you to get your hand very close thus almost eliminating the upright torque and adding a lot of stability to the game.

Using the unique technology of Vertical Force Tech and of course the Pinnacle 5 Cam, when the bow is released by the individual it gives the arrow a completely mind blowing force of energy. The bows that are used here are designed with Roller Guard shortstop string suppressor that really holds the string of the bow thus completely absorbing the vibration that the string usually causes.

Of course the Diamond Archery create their products with complete perfection in mind. The black ice bow created by them is set an an angle of 53 degrees to provide the person with more stability and accuracy that is needed. The bow has been created in a way that it always allows it to maintain its balance and is installed with special features like the Pinnacle4 cam which distributes the pressure that is created equally hence creating more stability for the user.

This stability that is created also helps greatly in minimising the whole pressure that is created on the limbs. The arrow can be placed much more closer to the hand as these bows have been created so that the thumb groove has a lowered berger.

The smooth pressure and drawing feature of the liberty bow minimises the whole pressure hence completely reducing the shocks that are created and the noises that can be created by this game of archery. The patented Vertical Force Technology allows equal distribution of the pressure in all the directions during the game.

Archery is a game that was created to shoot arrows that have to be released from a bow and shot at a particular target in the distance. Of course the closer you shoot to the target the higher you will score, and hitting the target is what everyone aims for.

On The Seventh Day Of Insurance Christmas I Learned All About Watercraft Insurance

"On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me seven swans a swimming, six geese a laying, five gold rings, four collie birds, three French hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree."

After a rough couple of days I decided to get away from it all with a trip to the lake. I know its December and cold, but I can still relax and see if any fish happen to be biting. I loaded up the boat and headed to the lake ready to enjoy my free time. It was a great day my true love gave me seven swans while out on the lake and we let them swim and enjoy the view right along with us.

Anyone who has ever been on the lake knows just how fun and relaxing it can be, just make sure that you are properly covered. If your boat is anything larger than a row boat you should consider watercraft coverage. Watercraft coverage is simple to purchase and is relatively inexpensive.

Here are some things to consider when buying insurance for your boat. Make sure that you choose to have fuel spill liability and wreckage removal coverage. I know that this is not something that anyone wants to have happen at the lake but in the event of an accident, and if your boat sinks in that accident, you will be responsible for the removal of the boat from the bottom of the lake. It is not OK to just leave it there. You will be fined if you try it. Furthermore, you are responsible for all of the fuel and oil that have now contaminated the lake. Cleanup can be expensive, especially if the lake is very deep, and that is why you want to make sure that your insurance will cover the cost.

Today I won't be doing any waterskiing, but water sports liability coverage is something that I always make sure is included on my policy.

Another valuable coverage that can really set your mind at ease is on-water towing. Breaking down on the water is not like breaking down on the side of the road. Being stuck out is the middle of the lake is not a whole lot of fun. It's nice to know that you have coverage for the expensive of being towed back to the marina. Maybe that fun day at the lake didn't quite turn out like you'd like it to have, but it sure could have been a lot worse.

Call your insurance agent if you have any questions.

Things to Look For in a Company Providing School Carpets

When you are choosing a company to provide you with your school carpets, it's important to make the right decision. Carpets are an investment for your school, so choosing a company which can provide you with the best-quality carpets will increase the chances that your carpets will last you for many years without the need for replacements.

So what are the main things to consider when choosing a carpet company?

Bespoke Design

Not all floor spaces are the same, and you may have very individual requirements for your school carpets. It's important to ensure that you find a company which doesn't just provide a one-size-fits-all solution.

You may have a specific colour scheme to stick to, and a company offering a wide range of styles, designs, colours and materials is essential to meet your requirements. Also try to find a company which will discuss your needs in detail to create the exact product you are after.

Full Installation

The installation of school carpets is one of the most important parts of the process. This involves a range of stages such as preparing the surface, inspecting the carpet, acclimatisation of the carpet and choosing the right type of installation such as the direct stick or double-stick contract installation system. A company which provides this service as well will save you a lot of trouble and can lead to a longer-lasting carpet by avoiding any early problems.

Commitment to Recycling

A company which has a good commitment to recycling is beneficial because you know that the company you choose is committed to minimising its impact on the environment. This can involve reusing old flexi-tiles, and the company may even come to collect these when the carpet needs to be replaced.

Good Customer Service

It is important that you can get hold of and talk to representatives of the company whenever you need to. For that reason, a company providing representatives in different regions of the country will be important. This will make it easier to talk to the company about your requirements or other issues and is key to ensuring a smooth process.

Get the Right Carpets for Your Schools

Choosing the right company for your school carpets is an important decision for your school. Not only do you want quality carpets that can put up with a lot of use over many years, but you want to deal with a company with experience which knows what it is doing. Choose your company wisely based on the above factors and you will stand a better chance of finding the right carpets for your school.

Benefits of Giving a Photo Montage

The search for the perfect gift for a loved one can be tiring and time consuming. What makes things even worse is if we are constrained by other factors like time, money and the availability of resources. An answer to this can be the creation of a photo montage.

Preserving memories Photo montages are a good way to store the wonderful memories from that event. Since the photographs in the creation hold a different meaning to that event, one is able recollect the special feeling associated to it by looking at the photograph. It will also be fun looking through the old photographs and reminiscing about the past.

A great gift for all Another reason why a photo montage is a great present is because it can be appreciated by everyone. It is suitable as a gift for all ages or either gender so you don't have to worry whether it is an inappropriate present. This special gift is also tailored to suit everyone so you can be sure that no two people would receive the same items.

Very good for budget conscious people A photo montage is also a terrific item to give if you are on a budget. The crux of it is the photographs that are put inside it. Since these are already existing resources you have, there is little things you need. Furthermore, if you create a digital copy of a montage instead of creating a physical copy, this will save you even more if you can obtain royalty free images and resources.
